Your hero fires on his own, so every decision you make is about where to stand. Drift too far into open ground and the slimes cut you off; hug a corner too long and the bats box you in. Movement is the real weapon here.

Every monster you drop leaves experience behind. Scoop up enough of it and the run pauses to offer you three upgrades - more bullets, wider blasts, faster boots, a bit of healing. You never get the same offer twice, so no two runs end the same way.

Coins carried out of a run go toward outfits and permanent boosts back at the manor, which means even a short, messy attempt still moves you forward.

Move, dodge, and let the pig shoot. There is no fire button - your only job is positioning and picking the right upgrade when the game asks.

Controls: 1. Move: - on a computer: WASD or the arrow keys. - on phones and tablets: hold anywhere on the screen and drag to steer the on-screen stick. 2. Choose an upgrade: click or tap one of the three cards that appear when you level up. 3. Collect: walk over experience orbs, coins and chests - nothing is picked up automatically.

• Take movement speed early. Almost every death in the first few minutes comes from being too slow to leave a closing circle.
• Commit to one damage type instead of spreading picks thin - a single upgraded weapon out-damages three half-built ones.
• Kite in wide loops. Pulling enemies into a line lets one shot hit five of them.
• Leave chests on the ground until a wave thins out; opening one mid-swarm is how good runs end.
• Keep an escape lane behind you. Fighting with your back to a wall removes the only defence you have.
